Area of Operation: Psychiatry
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer services to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!
Our Operations
The forensic psychiatric unit cares for patients who have been convicted of crimes and have been transferred to forensic psychiatric care. This means that we receive patients with varying psychiatric conditions. In the unit, we work from a long-term perspective where, in addition to medication, care, educational efforts, and psychological treatment with a focus on preventing recidivism are important components.
The forensic psychiatric unit currently consists of two care departments with security class 2 and security class 3, as well as an outpatient clinic. In April 2024, we will move to newly built premises in Jälla outside Uppsala.
We are looking for you
We are looking for someone who, together with other employees, wants to help develop care for patients in the forensic psychiatric unit. We can offer a stimulating workplace with a strong focus on care, content, and development. We take advantage of innovations and ideas and actively work towards our vision: to deliver Sweden's best forensic psychiatric care, every day, around the clock!
Your Mission
The work involves psychiatric care as well as coordination and collaboration with patients, relatives, colleagues, and outpatient care among others. We have long care periods and therefore place great emphasis on relationship-building work. You will participate in quality and development work within your area of expertise. We work with differentiated tasks depending on whether you are a basic trained nursing assistant or have a specialist education.
Your Qualifications
You who are applying have a degree from the nursing program with a psychiatric focus, or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent. You are proud of your profession, have good analytical and reflective abilities. Supervision of students and experience in quality and development work within psychiatric care is desirable and meritorious but not a requirement. We would also like you to have experience working with forensic psychiatric care.
In the appointment, we place great importance on personal suitability.
We Offer
We offer a stimulating job with a wide variety of tasks. We also provide professional supervision from a specialist nurse every week, and you have strong collegial support in the group.
You will receive a permanent full-time position during the day, evening, and weekend with placement in the forensic psychiatric unit. A probationary period may apply. Prior to employment, extracts from the suspicion and criminal record will be obtained.
With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).

Region Uppsala values the qualities that equal gender distribution and diversity bring to the organization. We therefore welcome applicants of all genders and with different backgrounds, abilities, and life experiences.
Region Uppsala places all permanently employed staff based on the needs of the total defense. This means that for the individual employee, there are no obligations in peacetime, but it is solely a planning measure.
Checks against suspicion and criminal records will be made regarding all persons whom the employer intends to employ or engage for patient-related work based on the fact that they may work in psychiatric healthcare, habilitation, care of children and youth, or compulsory care of substance abusers, areas that are covered by optional record extracts. This applies to all who will work closely with patients even if the tasks are not primarily intended to include work with the aforementioned patient groups.
This recruitment is conducted entirely through Region Uppsala's efforts. We therefore decline phone calls from recruitment companies and ad sellers.
